What To Expect...
The Government Center in Rochester is home to a wide spectrum of court cases, so expect the unexpected! Seriously though, just in the judiciary part of the government center, so much goes on.
Helpful Tips:
Parking
There are a couple of options for parking if you drive yourself to the government center, but one of the best options is the second street parking ramp. There is a skyway connected to the third floor, which takes you right to the government center.
Entering and Exiting the Courtroom
When entering a courtroom, make sure to make sure that nobody is in the middle of an argument or an elevated discussion. Enter swiftly and seat yourself in the courtroom excluding the first row as these are designated for legal staff.
Observation
When observing court cases, there are many things to watch for. Observe the process of the court, how the judge handles themselves, and how the judge responds to the case they are ruling on or moderating. Also observe and listen to the lawyers arguments and how they depose witnesses or people testifying. Some cases may cover topics which are disturbing or explicit. If a case topic makes you uncomfortable, choose not to watch these cases then.
